So, if you are a DOS-Quaker : Don't use a Teamname or get Q-Start V 1.80 now !
Thanks to Andy Gaschka for this Tip and his wishes for the next version.

"-winmem 16 -winlockunlock" oder "-winmem 32 -winlockunlock"
The result of this order ( when starting DOS-Quake ) is, that the memory you give to quake only will be locked for a short time. This forces the paging-frames into the RAM and if there is not enough memory left, all other running tasks will get back their memory. Quake only gets the really free RAM without disturbing the system. WINDOWS 95/98 only !

GlQuake needs a lot of environment-memory
for the "SET"-Orders !
You can give more free environment-memory
to all DOS-applications or only to one ( if you use Q-Start, the
application which needs the memory is "qs.bat" because
this file contains all the "SET"-Orders ).
More environment for all DOS-applications:
To change the environment-space for
all DOS-applications you must edit the properties of the file
"_default.pif" in the Windows-directory - if this file
does not exist you can copy "command.pif" or "dosprmt.pif"
and save it as "_default.pif". "Click" the
file ones to edit the properties. On the registercard "memory"
is an editfield for the environment-memory. Change this to "2048".
That's all.
Change environment only for
Quake :
In your Quake-directory is a file
named "qs.bat" ( Q-Start writes this file after you
start Quake with Q-Start ). You can change the environmet-space
for this file in the same way described above.

I think - no -
GlQuake uses the order "-HEAPSIZE
xxxxx" for reserving memory. "xxxxx" should not
be more than 50% of your systemmemory. I can't say, where the
maximum is, we tested 32000 and 64000 and got no better results
when allocating more memory.

Not in the shareware-version !
