Whats new V1.41 :
Q2Start is now able to show you the
original Map-Names instead of the filenames : base1"
-> Outer Base". You can activate this feature in
the Settings-Menu" with the Switch Original"
in the Field Map-Names"
Ive added the Support of the DM-Flags to the Server-Menu. You can also set the Hostname and enable File-Downloading ( allow_download ) and Console-Logging ( creates qconcole.log ). The allow_download"- and the Logfile"-Switch are also available in the Client-Menu.
The selection of Voodoo1, Voodoo2 or no Voodoo" changed to Voodoo/3D present yes/no" ( this only enables the Gl-Options ).
If you dont select a Start-Map for your Server, Q2Start will take the first Map out of the file pak0.pak" in the current Game-Directory.
I've expanded the Buffer for the Filenames of Your personal Configfiles from 24 Characters up to 50 Characters.
What's new V1.31 :
Bugfix: All maps which are hidden
in the original "pak0.pak" were not listed in the Maplist
because they are overwritten by the maps of the "pak1.pak"-file.
Thir Bug ist now corrected ! Sorry !!!
What's new V1.30 :
Instead of the Shareware-Version
of Q2Start I made now a Freeware-Version. This Version supports
up to 8 Mods ( 2 more than the old
Shareware ) and is free off all the
boring Shareware-Reminders.
It has also a brand new "Map-Search-Engine" for the Map-Selection. This engine will find the maps which are hidden in the Quake-Pak-Files much faster and more sure.
In addition Q2Start now supports
the Windows-Sound-Engine: If there is a Wavefile named "Q2Start.wav"
in the Working-Directory ( Quake2 )
this File will be played after clicking
on the "Quake now!"-Button just before Quake2 will start
( Just for fun ). You can switch off this feature by deleting
the wave-file. I prefer the "Three
- two - one - fight" which came with Quake 1 - "Rocket-Arena"
What's new V1.22 :
In Version 1.21 it was not possible
to use the switches "+set noipx 1" and "+set noudp
1" because Q2Start writes all switches into a Cfg-File but
this 2 switches are commandline-parameter. So they did not work.
To fix this I've added 2 switch-boxes in the "Settings"-menu
to activate this parameters. Íf activated Q2Start will
add the corresponding parameter to the commandline.
What's new V1.21 :
In some configurations there was
a problem starting Quake2 with a batch-file ( "grey screen"
), so I changed some main-functions of Q2Start. Q2Start now calls
Quake2 directly and not with a batch-file. Without the use of
a batch-file it is not possible to choose the SET-Orders ( like
SET SST_GRXCLK=57 ) for your Voodoo-Card in the Q2Start-menu.
Theese orders must be placed again in your "autoexec.bat".
We've tested the new version of Q2Start for several days successfull
and without any "Grey-Screen" !!!
There is a new input in the server-menu. I've added an input for the number of clients. Now you can start a server for more than 8 guys !
I've integrated a check-function for the "config-files". This function looks for the "line-feed" at the end of the file. If this linefeed is missing you'll be reminded to add a 'CR' after the last line of the file.
2 more Bug-Fixes:
The commandoline-junk after deleting
the whole "OpenGl"-options or the whole "Others"-options
is history ( I hope ).
I also solved the Error with a call
of a not existing config-file ( +exec ..\none ).
I've found and fixed one ( little ) bug : Starting a dedicated server Q2Start used "+set gamedir" instead of "+set game".
Because I've implemented some new features there was not enough free space on the mainmenu, so I've changed the layout a bit.
The 6 Buttons for the gametype-selection ( Single-Player / Multi-Player-Client / Server-listen und Server-dedicated ) are gone ! Now you can / must select the gametype the gametype in a pull-down-menu.
If you want to play a special
map, you can now choose the map directly from the mainmenu. In
the new pulldown-window are listed all maps
which are included in the files "pak0.pak"
und "pak1.pak" ( in the directory "baseq2"
) and all maps in the directory "baseq2\maps". If you
select a Mod (e.g. Zaero ) Q2Start
will add the maps of this mod to the list ( therefor Q2Start searches
through the file "pak0.pak" in the
actual gamedirectory and in the directory
"gamedir\maps"). I've tested this function with a lot
off various mods and there was no error.
I've added a little server-menu.
You get to this menu by clicking on the "Config"-Button
in the field "Server". In this menu you can activate
and adjust frag- and timelimit, set the server to cooperative
mode and tell Quake2 to use a "server.cfg" ( this cfg
must exist in the choosen gamedirectory ).
And there is a fast and easy_to_use
maplist-creator :
There are two windows. All available
maps are listed in the right window. With a double-click on a
map in the right window the map is added to the left window (
the maplist ). With a double-click on a map in the maplist you
delete the map from the list. The maplist is saved in the actual
gamedirectory so you can have a different maplist for each mod.
After you've created a maplist the switch "use maplist"
in the mainmenu is available but only when you select the gametype
"server...". The maplist will be used by Quake2 when
you activate "use maplist" and start the server. If
you don't select a startmap Q2Start uses the first map from the
maplist as the startmap !
One hint : If there is a "+exec ..."-command in your commandline, it is important to use a startmap because Quake2 does'nt start correctly without it. All files used with the "+exec ..."-command should have a CR ( Enter ) at the end of the last line ( otherwise the following command will be scambled with the last line of the file used with "+exec..." ) !
Bugfix:
The first bug !
After You've started a dedicated
sever, the switch "+set dedicated 1" will be activated
until you choose a listen server. When you try to start Quake
2 in singelplayer-mode before choosing a listen server, a dedicated
server will be started - sorry about that !!!
The problem is solved in version
1.01.
